Director's Message
Dear
Student:
I would like to extend to you my sincere congratulations
and welcome! You have been selected to attend the Center
for Academic Development Services Summer Program.
The CADS Summer Program will run from Saturday, July
12, 2008 through Friday, August 1, 2008. This is a rigorous
three-week residential program designed especially for
first time students preparing to enroll at the University
at Buffalo. Our major objective is to provide you with
a demanding educational experience that will help you
make a smooth transition to college life and that will
enhance your success during your first semester at UB.
The program will provide you with experience in selected
college level subjects and skills such as Mathematics,
English, World Civilization, Computer Literacy, Library
Skills, Critical Inquiry and Critical Thinking. This
program has been recognized as one of the best in the
nation, and previous experience has shown that students
benefit enormously from this award winning summer program.
Your room, meals, instruction, books, materials, supplies,
and university orientation fees are included in your
cost of participation.
The summer program is designed to help you challenge
yourself intellectually and emotionally by providing
you with a real slice of life as a UB student. During
the program you will make new friends, learn about the
campus and important offices, have regular meetings with
your UB advisor, and learn the rigor that will be expected
and required of a UB student. The program also includes
a full schedule of extra-curricular social and recreational
activities.
We appreciate your interest in the University at Buffalo
and look forward to your participation in the CADS Summer
Program.
Sincerely,
Dr. Henry J. Durand
